No Surprises Act January, 2022
The following information pertains to the No Surprises Act which went into effect January 1, 2022. The purpose of this act is to prevent medical bills which are much more than expected. While this legislation was mainly focused on preventing unexpectedly high hospital bills, Dr. Mintz is required by the Act to provide all patients with a “Good Faith Estimate” of the cost of her services. Dr. Mintz always keeps a current schedule of fees posted on this website.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. For all new patients the Good Faith Estimate of the initial visit is the the same as the cost of the initial evaluation (see fee schedule).
- For current patients: the Good Faith Estimate of your services is based upon the length of your appointment (see fee schedule). If you would like a written Good Faith Estimate, please let Dr. Mintz know either by leaving a voice mail message or by emailing her. You can also ask Dr. Mintz for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
